Shibori, the Japanese method of dying cloth with indigo, is a more recent addition to my creative collection, which I began exploring in 2020. First described as an artistic technique in the third century, the earliest surviving examples of shibori-dyed cloth date to the mid-8th century. This dying method is incredibly easy to apply to a wide range of surfaces, which in my case includes clothing, napkins, pillows, bags and standalone art.  I love the unique patterns that emerge through the Shibori process - while I have a general sense for the style I'm seeking to impart, I never know how the process will unfold - which always makes each new Shibori piece a fun surprise!
