Yarn tubes have been part of my repertoire for several years. What started as a simple winding of thread around paper gift wrap cylinders has expanded to include elegant yarns wrapped around PVC pipes of all widths and lengths. These tubes are both hung on walls and rested on the ground in various sculptural arrangements. The designs are inspired by a variety of sources, including Powwow drum sticks, African beaded tribal sticks, and twine-wrapped trees commonly founds in urban centers. The construction process takes approximately 5-10 hours, frequently incorporating up to 15 unique sources of yarn.
